The organisers of the Music Design Awards are delighted to announce the support of Moscow-based POPSOP, the packaging design and consumer branding site, and an extension to the entry deadline for the Awards to November 30, 2009.

London, UK, November 02, 2009 — POPSOP reaches a worldwide audience interested in package design and branding, offering a digest of the latest industry news and trends, as well as professional opinions, articles and interviews. It is a trusted source of information for anyone needing to stay abreast of the world of package design and branding and is a natural supporting partner for the Music Design Awards.

“There is still a huge market for packaging design linked to recorded music, though it is changing fast,” comments Marie Thomas, operations director for the MDA. “Branding, though, is becoming more and more important as musicians and music brands fight for recognition in an ever more fragmented and competitive music market place. The link with POPSOP extends our reach into Russia and eastern Europe very effectively, as well as reminding designers worldwide.”

The POPSOP site can be accessed at www.popsop.com or www.popsop.ru and the site is in both English and Russian.
POPSOP joins a growing band of supporters for the inaugural Music Design Awards including Eye the quarterly international review of graphic design and visual culture.

The Music Design Awards embrace designers from all markets, with seven continental region categories in which design teams can evidence excellence through the presentation of a body of their work in the region. Full information on the Awards can be found at www.MusicDesignAwards.com or you can contact the organizers at the address shown.

The extended closing date for entries gives designers and marketers – who learn about the Awards through the pages of POPSOP – enough time to prepare and submit their entries.

The Music Design Awards is one of a family of business celebration projects – including the Online Retail Awards (www.OnlineRetailAwards.com) where design also has a huge part to play in the success of internet retailing sites – run by a London-based team with over 300 awards’ projects to their credit.

No one can deny this fact that movies and TV shows represent the entertainment media to enjoy in the spare time or free time. If one gets too bored with other kind of tired work he can switch to the TV to watch the movies or TV shows for keeping our mind fresh and cool. These are considered as the best way of relaxing. But sometimes, one has to miss his/her favorite ones due to studies or any meetings with the boss. It just irritates oneself. And in today’s busy life, it happens many times that we miss out our favorite shows when we are very eager to watch our favorite ones. And again one more difficulty arises that is to watch them on the television again. The repeated telecast of that shows generally takes one week or more. This problem can be solved easily with the help of internet. Today, internet is considered as the best way for fun and excitement or enjoy.
Initially, Internet industry was started to provide an easy access to the World Wide Web, to get or to provide the information about the whole world in just a short span of time. The services are provided by the internet service provider. Now a day, internet is gaining wide coverage from all the sectors or fields. It is best suited to the requirements of the students who need not go to the library for searching a lot of books. Apart from the studies, its need is also emerging in the banking and industry sector. This rapid increase in the growth of the internet services and the use by the general public is leading to a well advanced economy and globalization of each and every country and its individual as a whole.
Internet is a very useful and appropriate way to advertise a company’s product. It is also important for the marketing research agencies and the media. It as a medium of media provides or offers a wide range or package of entertainment to each and every age of people. This comes with a wide range of features that can be used easily. In the media field, movies and TV shows represent the best features supported or provided by the internet.
The TV shows and the movies are enjoyed by each and everyone. Some think it as a way to get chill and relaxed while others may think it as a medium to avoid the studies. In short, it is a complete and important source of relaxation and enjoyment as well. Apart from all these facilities available at the internet, it is comparatively cheaper in cost. Thus one can access to the internet at a very low prices. The other media for watching movies are theatres or DVD’s or CD’s on which one has to incur a huge amount or a lot of amount to get the benefits. The available site on internet for watching movies and TV shows is moviesdatacenter.com

Together with renowned Producer Andy Wright, Diana has created a groundbreaking sound for the violin.

London, UK, October 09, 2009 — The Butterfly Effect is the new album by violinist Diana Yukawa, one of the world’s most exciting and talented musicians. Together with renowned Producer Andy Wright, Diana has created a groundbreaking sound for the violin.

Through the years since being discovered by BMG at age 13, Diana has discovered a passion and a natural talent for creating her own music. Although respectful of her classical roots, Diana wanted to demonstrate that the violin isn’t purely a classical instrument. Having invested a lot of time in developing her new sound, Diana has poured her heart and soul into the creation of each piece whilst running against the grain of people’s expectation.

Creating music comes very naturally to Diana but the journey to this point has been a very steep climb. Creating new music that doesn’t fall into a specific genre coupled with the preconception that Diana’s instrument is only for classical music, created many hurdles. But for Diana, these hurdles just had to be jumped.

8 years have passed since the release of Diana last album, during which time she has created a modern sound for the violin. Having started collaborating with Producer, Andy Wright in 2008, Sphere Studios in London was their home as they pushed the boundaries for the violin and the music took shape.

Once all the tracks had been written and perfected, the notorious Studio One at Abbey Road provided the perfect location to house the final recording. Its technical aptitude and magical acoustics united with the knowledge of its previous groundbreaking occupants, added yet another layer to the final sound of The Butterfly Effect.

Listeners of The Butterfly Effect are taken on a wonderful journey through the wonderful collection of tracks, held together with a certain magical ambience, uniting them all perfectly. The wonderfully varied pace from one track to the next keeps the listener engaged, activating a vast array of emotion with every note.

Diana Yukawa’s producer, Andy Wright is a notorious and very talented gentleman who has worked with the likes of Simply Red, Jeff Beck, the late Luciano Pavaroti and Massive Attack so she was in the best hands.

Andy and Diana’s ideas blended together like a dream, testament to the great working relationship they have but furthermore verifying to Diana, that Andy was the perfect Producer choice to accompany her on the very special journey.

The Butterfly Effect is to be released through Sony Music starting in Japan on 21st October 2009. For more information, please visit www.dianayukawa.co.uk

Eugene, OR, October 08, 2009 — Halie Loren has made her mark in Indie music over the years with several highly acclaimed releases. Most recently the jazz singer and songwriter was awarded for her excellence in both vocals and recording at the Just Plain Folks Music Awards 2009.

Halie walked away with the coveted Best Vocal Jazz Album for the superb 2008 release, They Oughta Write a Song. A collection of standards, jazzified classics, and three of her own original co-writes, the album has garnered excellent critical reviews and continues to be played on stations around the globe.

Loren said, “I give much credit for the album’s cohesive and solid sound to the amazing talents of the musicians who played on this album: Matt Treder (Piano), who was my co-producer and also arranged much of the music, Mark Schneider (Bass), Brian West (Drums), and Tim McLaughlin (Trumpet).”

Just Plain Folks organization’s 50,000 membership is made up of an array of independent artists at every level of recognition, including Grammy, European Music and Academy Award winners. After receiving a record setting 42,000 albums and over a half million songs from 163 countries around the world, the organization’s staff and a team of judges from the industry filtered the music down to song and album nominees in 95 genres of music.

The largest independent music awards event on the planet, the ceremonies were held August 29 in Nashville, Tennessee. This year’s nominees came from over 80 countries, giving the organization an amazing cross section of diversity and culture. Halie made it in the top 10 Vocal Jazz Album nominees and in the top song nominees in both the New Folk Song and Contemporary Song categories, where her songs competed with those by the likes of Janis Ian and Gretchen Peters, both multi-award-winning singer/songwriters.

Loren began singing professionally at 15 and is earning a reputation as one of today’s top singers and songwriters in a variety of genres, all with a pop/jazz-leaning focus. Having already released three albums, she continues gathering awards and recognition, and finding herself among some very select company in the music industry. At present she is planning a recording project that will fuse her unique songwriting with her deep roots in jazz, and which Loren says will be something altogether different from any of her previous albums as she continues to explore new avenues of creativity.

Visit the Halie Loren website for media, upcoming performances, recording sessions, new album releases, CD purchases and more.

Culver City, CA, October 07, 2009 — Marshall Blonstein and his Audio Fidelity imprint, a leading reissue label, has announced they will release two more classic rock albums on October 13th.

Audio Fidelity is proud to add Lynyrd Skynyrd’s breakthrough southern rock cornerstone Second Helping (1974) and the Yes classic step away from progressive rock 90125 (1983) to their ever growing list of legendary rock releases.

Once again Audio Fidelity does not cut any corners and gives the music lovers and collectors something to look forward to. Both releases feature the original artwork and a windowed slipcase to feature the album covers.

The special Audio Fidelity process using the analog masters and carefully putting them through a sonically constructed vintage tube playback deck and then their Kensei Audio Transformer for the ultimate reproduction makes each album a keepsake for any rock fan and a marvelous collectors piece to covet in your collection.

Each recording has its moments and individually held equal importance to both bands. How can anyone forget the monster hit “Sweet Home Alabama” and the ensuing movement of southern rock bands into the consciousness of youth everywhere? This was Lynyrd Skynydr’s sophomore album and it would skyrocket them to international stardom. In the same instance Yes made a huge comeback with 90125. They were already world renowned for many years but needed to reemerge to reinstate the band as rock heavyweights. They did it by radically changing their style from progressive rock to pop-rock. As it turned out it became the most successful release for the band spawning a number one hit with “Owner of a Lonely Heart” and a Grammy nomination for the instrumental track “Cinema.”

Visit the Audio Fidelity website for more information on each release and to pre-order to make sure you do not miss out on the limited edition numbered CDs that will instantly become collector’s items.

ATLANTA, GA – September 10, 2009 — A few years ago, music lover James Rawls used to recommend undiscovered and underrated music by email to a small group of family and friends. In September 2008, he grabbed a few web design books from the public library, took that concept to the internet and created MeLikeGoodMusic.com. It’s now a year later and Me Like Good Music has become a home for underrated music and artists.

“For years, I would rummage through the used CD and vinyl bins in the stores on St. Marks Place in New York. My favorites were the 88 cents bins at Sounds. The goal was always the same, to find something interesting and different. At 88 cents, it was worth taking a risk on a completely unknown artist,” explains Rawls. “Whenever I found something that got me excited, I would email the group, telling them about the artist, attaching some of the music and recommending they pick up a copy. It became a regular thing.”

The emails took a back seat after Rawls left New York City but the group, now hooked, continued to hunger for more music. “When I moved to Montreal, I no longer had access to St. Marks Place but the desire to hear and share new music remained. So I went on the internet to find sites that recommended music from lesser-known artists. I found several but most of them were single-genre sites. For someone who enjoys a variety of music, that can be unsatisfying. So I decided to create the site I wanted; a site where one day you’d get an R&B or jazz recommendation, then next time maybe a heavy metal, electronica or country recommendation or even an artist singing in German, Spanish, French or some other language. Being open-minded to different things is part of the joy of discovering new music.”

Since its debut, Me Like Good Music has steadily developed a following of music lovers looking for something different from today’s cookie-cutter offerings. “I’m extremely happy with the way the site has grown. I especially love how it’s become more interactive. In the beginning, I was doing all the recommending and getting a little feedback here and there. Now, I get daily recommendations through the site and social media. Things like ‘Check out this great underrated artist.’ or ‘Check me out. My music is the coolest.’ The internet is packed with artists trying to find an audience for their music. I’m glad Me Like Good Music has become another option to help them get some attention. For me, underrated music is like indie film, it’s the sleepers that hit you in a memorable way. So that’s my purpose: to awaken you to the sleepers.”

As for the future of Me Like Good Music, Rawls said “I live in Atlanta now and I’m discovering the diversity of Atlanta’s music scene. It’s a whole new candy store full of new flavors to sample. For now, I’m still a very small fish in a huge media pond, but that’s okay. I’m here to share the music I like with people interested in different types of music, especially music from underrated artists. So, as long as those people are around, we’ll be that school of fish…that tiny school jamming in the coolest part of the pond.”

Visit http://www.melikegoodmusic.com/press.php to hear a few of MeLikeGoodMusic’s favorite underrated artists.

# # #

Me Like Good Music is an Atlanta-based website dedicated to recommending the best in new and old underrated music of multiple genres. It particularly focuses on individual artists and bands flying under the radar of popular music.

Phoenix, AZ, August 13, 2009 — Since his death in 1945, the grave of Blind Willie Johnson, one of the greatest bottleneck-slide guitarists of all time, has been unmarked. Now, thanks to 18 months of research and a dozen visits to the Blanchette Cemetery in Beaumont, Texas by Austinite Jack Ortman, the final resting place of this influential Texas musician will get the recognition it deserves.

Johnson’s music has always been revered by his fellow musicians. His songs have been covered by Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, White Stripes, Bruce Springsteen, Hot Tuna, the Grateful Dead and countless other artists. More than 30 years after his death, Johnson’s recording of “Dark was the Night (Cold was the Ground)” was included on a Sounds of Earth record launched into space onboard NASA’s Voyager One. Nearly 60 years after Johnson’s death, Texas guitar legend Johnny Winter called that song one of his 10 favorite songs in a Guitar World interview.

Johnson’s childhood, like his untimely death, was heartbreaking. His mother died when he was a baby; his step-mother blinded him with lye when he was seven years old. (His song “Motherless Children Have a Hard Time” was covered by Clapton on 461 Ocean Boulevard in 1974.) One of Columbia’s biggest selling race recording stars during the Great Depression, Johnson recorded 30 songs between 1927 and 1930. When the economy ended his recording career, he became a Baptist minister. He operated a “House of Prayer” in Beaumont with his wife and continued to perform on street corners. In 1945, a fire ravaged their home. With nowhere to go and little funds, they slept on newspapers on their water-damaged bed. Johnson caught pneumonia but was turned away at a local hospital because he was blind (or black, depending upon the source). He died within a week: his final resting place unknown; his grave unmarked.

Determined to uncover that page of Texas history, Ortman began making the 230 mile trek from Austin to Beaumont every two or three weeks. “I’m into the history of music and musicians of the Golden Triangle − Beaumont, Orange and Port Arthur, Texas” he explained. “During my research, I kept coming across information that Blind Willie had lived in Beaumont during the 30s and 40s. The sources also revealed that he died in Beaumont. My natural curiosity made me search further and I started finding information that no one was sure where he was buried. That was it, my moment of realization, and I thought, ‘What a perfect project for me’.”

Ortman began researching Johnson’s life, collecting books, articles, and CD liner notes. After reading an article in the Austin American Statesman by Michael Corcoran, and a chapter about Johnson in Corcoran’s book All Over the Map, he learned that Corcoran had found a copy of the Johnson’s death certificate that noted he was buried in Blanchette Cemetery.

Ortman headed for that cemetery and met Estraleta Sonnier, the new director of Community Cemeteries, an umbrella organization for several Beaumont cemeteries. He then hooked up with the Tyrrell Historical Library and the Jefferson County Historical Commission and was told Johnson was buried at Community Cemeteries, which had him searching two additional burial grounds. After a couple of dead ends at those cemeteries, he once again focused on Blanchette.

Johnson was buried in a pauper’s grave in the “colored section” of the Blanchette Cemetery, which has a chain link fence separating the white and black sections. When Ortman discovered his final resting place in July, Johnson had been dead for almost 65 years. Sam Charters, music historian, record producer, and author of The Country Blues, The Legacy of the Blues, and several other books on blues and jazz, searched for his grave in the mid 1950s. Corcoran abandoned his search in 2003. Ortman believed the time was right to try again and credits his success to a number of factors.

“Right from the beginning, I felt if I were to have any success, I needed the involvement of all the players,” he said. “My objective was getting to know the people at the cemetery and all the historical commissions on a personal basis. Discovering the location took combining the “Industrial Maps” of Beaumont from the 1920s to the 1960s; having a new director of the Blanchette Cemetery; utilizing overhead aerial photos from satellites in space; timing; and a lot of luck.”

“I think other researchers had been looking for a gravestone with Blind Willie’s name chiseled on it,” he added. “When I found out he was buried in a paupers grave, it changed the focus of my search. After I eliminated all the ‘marked’ and ‘paid for’ tombs and narrowed what was left as the paupers graves, I had found the last of the missing ‘Blues Founding Fathers’.”

Requirements for an Official Texas Historical Marker from the Texas Historical Commission (THC) are stringent and require applications to be submitted by a county historical commission. The Jefferson County Historical Commission is submitting Ortman’s application this fall. When approved, the THC writes the inscription, requires payment for the marker (approximately $1500, already pledged by an anonymous donor), and has a foundry cast the marker. Ortman plans to host an unveiling ceremony with the Jefferson County Historical Commission when the wait is finally over.

“Well deserved and 65 years overdue, Blind Willie Johnson will finally get the recognition he deserves as a seminal Texas musician,” Ortman added.

For Immediate Release – New Book by Linda Holden Givens called: ‘HOLDEN ON TO Family Roots’ shares family history, genealogy and stories about her roots in Seattle.

Summary: This book is about a granddaughter’s journey into the history of her family. With musical and entertainment talents flowing thru the generations and continual family reunions for 40 years, this reflects many families and a rich history to be shared.

“In all of us there is a hunger, marrow deep, to know our heritage – to know who we are and where we came from. Without this enriching knowledge, there is a hollow yearning. No matter what our attainments in life, there is still a vacuum, an emptiness, and the most disquieting loneliness.” — Alex Haley, Roots

Linda Holden Givens, a respected professional in Information Technology, tells in her new book released May 4, 2009 how her family of musicians and entertainers are as Holdens. The book targets interested individuals who know the family, others who uphold the family traditions along with anyone who has interest in genealogy.

After being up for 3 days straight (a method he frequently uses to write), Ludwig recorded the well catchy and potentially smash hit, ‘God Only Knows My Shoe Size’. He told us
