If you are interested in undertaking a spiritual journey, then, India is the perfect place to for you to start. India is land of ashrams where you will come across some of the most distinguished spiritual gurus, yoga gurus and ashrams in India. From Baba Ramdev, who teaches pranayama, to Mata Amritanandmayi, who takes you on a soul satisfying spiritual journey, to the Missionaries of charity, dedicated to the uplifting of the needy, you will come across numerous personalities teaching the same art of living. Even though the technique is different, all the Indian ashrams have the same aim, i.e., make people spiritually aware and contribute to the social good.

For this purpose, Yogiraj Ramesh ji has established SRI PEETHAM, an ashram which extends hospitalities to Indians and NRIs the period of Kumbh and Ardh Kumbh and even during annual Magh Mela in Allahabaad, known the world over as Teerthraj Prayag.

SRI PEETHAM Ashram is registered under the Society Registration Act 1860 U.P Government.
Since 30 years, this institution relief is being provided to the devotees through every type of yagya and hawans. The ashram also established a Shri Pitham Charitable Trust as subsidiary of Shri Pitham Ashrama by Shri Shri 1008 Shri Pitham Pithadhishwara Yogiraj Shri Ramesh Ji Maharaj (Superb Guru of Tantra-Mantra-Yantra-Meditation- Third Eye Meditation).

Here you can experience very high loving vibration and absorb its healing qualities.
Delicious meals in form of free Bhandara are served and shared in a very loving way to the poor beggars; at the Ashram. We are happy to open our doors for people who feel a connection with the Ashram and who are interested in our projects and activities. We do not welcome people who are related with any sect and their manipulating activities.
The principle of our Ashram is to share our food, room, our feelings and our love. And we love to share! Many people are working here to keep the building and the garden as nice and clean as it is.
Please feel free to come and visit our Ashram whenever you are in Allahabad. If you wish to come when Swami Ji are there, you can check our schedule.

Delays Could Prevent Activist from Being Present to Receive Human Rights Award

Gonzalez was chosen by Human Rights First for the 2009 Human Rights Award in recognition of his courageous defense of human rights in Colombia. He will be honored at an event hosted by legendary newsman Tom Brokaw. Instead of being part of the celebration in New York, Gonzalez may be thousands of miles away. His visa is being held up by the U.S. government, apparently because of false charges lodged against him by the Colombian authorities – despite U.S. agreement that those charges amount to nothing.

“Rather than welcoming Gonzalez, the U.S. government is letting him languish in a bureaucratic black hole.” said Elisa Massimino, CEO and Executive Director of Human Rights First. “The State Department has long supported Gonzalez’ work as well as his effort to fight the very trumped up criminal charges that may now prevent him from entering the United States. Yet, almost four months after Gonzalez first applied for his visa, his application is stalled in a seemingly endless bureaucratic back and forth between the State Department, the Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies. This sends the wrong message to the Colombian authorities and undercuts U.S. policy to support Colombian human rights defenders who are under attack.”

Gonzalez is a groundbreaking student activist and regional coordinator of the Political Prisoners Solidarity Committee in Colombia where he has worked to promote access to justice for prisoners and victims of Colombia’s conflict. Ironically, Gonzalez’s advocacy led to his own arrest. He was detained for more than a year on the false charge of being a guerilla leader, and now faces seven more years in prison if his test-case appeal to Colombia’s Supreme Court is unsuccessful.

Both the State Department and various UN bodies – including the Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders, the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Colombia – have expressed concern that his prosecution is baseless and intended to discredit him and undermine his work. Earlier this year, Gonzalez received support from the State Department to appeal the criminal investigation to Colombia’s Supreme Court. And, in 2007, the State Department included Gonzalez in its human rights country report citing his baseless prosecution as being emblematic of “the government’s attempts to harass human rights defenders.”

The Colombian courts have confirmed that Gonzalez is free to travel to the US.

“Gonzalez’s case is just one example of a systematic problem in Colombia. Colombian activists from all walks of life are routinely subjected to trumped-up charges intended to stigmatize and silence them,” said Massimino. In February 2009, Human Rights First released a groundbreaking report In the Dock and Under the Gun: Baseless Prosecutions of Human Rights Defenders in Colombia, that, for the first time, documented the widespread and systematic nature of the problem. Last month, after an extensive visit to Colombia, and a meeting with Gonzalez, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders decried the problem of unfounded criminal proceedings against Colombian activists.

Alton, Hampshire, October 06, 2009 — Award-winning wildlife photographer, Michael Huggan, has released his African Wildlife Calendar for 2010 in association with the world renowned international conservation and animal welfare charity, Born Free Foundation.

The 12 stunning pictures and intimate portraits which appear in the calendar were selected by the Born Free Foundation team, and sales of this outstanding photographic collection will help raise funds for the charity.

About half of the photos in the calendar are, not surprisingly, of cats whilst the remainder are of giraffes, hippopotami and elephants – each one bearing the Born Free logo.

“I noticed that Born Free – a charity I have known, worked with and supported for many years – did not have a calendar of its own, so I asked if they would like to select the photos for me for 2010 – and I am honoured that they agreed,” explains Michael.

Michael Huggan’s 2010 African Wildlife Calendar – the ideal Christmas gift – is exclusively available here: http://www.michaelhuggan.com/salesarea.php. It is 42 x 29 cm (A3) in size and is priced at £10 plus postage & packing (only £3 for UK delivery).

The new alliance plans an initial investment from the Slim Foundation and other donors of US $100 million to support and significantly advance ongoing efforts at the local, national and global levels within Mexico. This work will include efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change, develop comprehensive water management policies, strengthen civil society, develop innovative financial mechanisms, and invest in local sustainable economies.

“Mexico is home to 10 percent of the Earth’s species and this wealth of diversity is important not only for Mexico’s ecosystems, but for the people here who depend on these resources for their social, economic and physical well-being,” said WWF President and CEO Carter Roberts. “This alliance also underscores Mexico’s rising leadership in global negotiations on the design of new financial mechanisms to help developing nations confront and adapt to climate change.”

The goal is to support biodiversity preservation in areas of exceptional natural richness. An assessment of the major issues and recommended actions was developed based on consultation with more than 100 government and civil society experts across the selected regions: the Gulf of California, Chihuahuan Desert, Mesoamerican Reef of Mexico, Oaxaca, Monarch Butterfly Region and Chiapas (Lacandona Forests and El Triunfo).

“Matching funds from the Slim Foundation represent the largest private financial commitment from an individual ever made in support of conservation and sustainable development in Mexico,” said Omar Vidal, director of WWF-Mexico. “This alliance between the private sector, NGOs and government is exactly the kind of partnership that WWF sees as the model for transforming the way we conserve our special places and balance the needs of people and nature around the world.”

In 2009, the alliance is working in coordination with federal, state and municipal governments, civil society organizations, local communities and academia to establish the basis for the preservation of priority protected areas within the six regions by strengthening local organizations and communities and supporting management strategies for land and water conservation, threatened species protection and climate change adaptation.

Phoenix, AZ, June 9, 2009 — Discount Cab presented Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona with a check for more than $8,200 on June 2 to help advance the Phoenix non-profit’s environmental initiatives.

The state’s largest taxi company, Discount Cab donated one dollar for every cab ride it made on Earth Day and earmarked the proceeds for a Habitat for Humanity environmental initiative.

With Glendale Vice Mayor Manny Martinez and Councilman David Goulet in attendance, Discount Cab presented the check in front of the first Platinum-certified LEED affordable home in Arizona, which was built in Glendale by Habitat for Humanity.

“We’re the largest Toyota Prius taxi fleet in the country so our commitment to green goes deeper than the paint on our taxis,” said Discount Cab CEO Craig Hughes. “Donating to Habitat for Humanity was our way of supporting another Phoenix-based organization committed to a more environmentally friendly way of life.”

Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is an independent, locally run, nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization. Habitat builds affordable housing for low-income families in need of adequate shelter.

“Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona is pleased to have been chosen as the recipient of the proceeds from Discount Cab’s Earth Day fundraising project,” said Roger Schwierjohn, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona. “We congratulate them on their 25th anniversary and commend them for being environmentally conscious leaders in their industry. This donation will allow Habitat the ability to continue its affordable green building initiative.”

Also on Earth Day, Discount Cab announced that it would install $500,000 worth of solar panels on its Glendale headquarters, allowing it to generate the majority of its own electricity.

It capped a year that saw the introduction of the Prius taxi and the company’s announcement that it had reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by 800 tons while saving 80,000 gallons of gas. The company expects to reduce emissions by 4,000 tons and save at least 400,000 gallons of gas this year.

The Habitat for Humanity charitable contribution is part of a larger vision of community involvement for Discount Cab, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The company also subsidizes the cost of bus passes for its employees, built its Glendale headquarters to be energy efficient and through its “Free Ride Back” program, which helps remove inebriated drivers from the road, estimates that it has donated more than $100,000 in free cab rides.

“Arizona has been great to us for 25 years now,” Hughes said. “These programs are our way of giving back to a community that has given us so much.”

SeedaNeed.com the World Wide good deed organization has stepped up to help inspire and promote the support of our troops. The project founder has a desire for employers nationwide to adopt the program.

Wentzville, MO, June 15, 2009 — SeedaNeed.com is a good deed organization that has been launched to do good deeds Nation wide, and eventually worldwide. The non-profit organization is a web based program that helps people first recognize how easy it is to change a life by doing good things, and secondly helps users track the good deeds by supplying SeedaNeed Good Deed cards at no cost. The SeedaNeed Good Deed cards have an ID number on the card, the ID is entered to the site seedaneed.com, and the user leaves a comment about the good deed, and then passes the card along. This allows an ongoing string of good deeds that can be watched and tracked for the life of the card.

The recent campaign “Seed a Soldiers Need” has been launched by the project founder Eddie Struckman. “I basically took the idea of helping a soldier to a company and it was well received, and so many employees had loved ones overseas. With the fact of the need being so great, many people wanted to volunteer goods and it was an instant success.” Said Struckman in a recent interview

“With so many people having loved ones and family members oversees and serving in the military, this offers a way for the community to come together and help.” Said Struckman

The project consists of finding a soldier that is able to receive goods, encouraging people to donate, and sending it off. With the current APO AE mail system it doesn’t costs any extra to send to soldiers overseas.

It is very easy to get involved with the “Seed a Soldiers Need” program by just contacting the SeedaNeed organization directly on there website. They are able to supply you or your company and workplace with needed graphics, flyers, boxes, and most importantly SeedaNeed Good Deed Cards. It’s as easy as placing a box in a location and encouraging others to fill it with the needed supplies. In every community nationwide there are soldiers that could use an encouragement.

Jazz Not Jazz a group of seasoned and respected musicians are now offering New Orleans funeral bands at wakes and funerals because of an apparent surge in demand for more upbeat and joyous funeral arrangements.

London, UK, June 02, 2009 — The trend in trying to make the most gloomy of occasions more joyful is so pronounced that a recent study of 750 people showed one fifth of them wanted Monty Python’s ‘Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life’ played at their funeral. Whether such a high percentage of clergy would welcome that is another matter.

Though the Jazz Not Jazz band hire agency have been supplying New Orleans music at funerals for many years throughout the UK the growth in demand is sudden and unexpected. Leader of the Jazz Not Jazz music agency, Jeff Williams explains: “In my opinion the single biggest factor has been the James Bond film ‘Live and Let Die.’ There is a New Orleans funeral scene at the opening of the film and this has captured the imagination of people that watched the film. It is nearly always mentioned when a recently deceased’s relative contacts us to arrange for a New Orleans Jazz Band to play at the funeral. I think those who remember the film when it was released and upon which it made such an impression are now those of an age, to be blunt, that are dying off hence the demand now.”

Particular favourites receiving a New Orleans style treatment include ‘When The Saints Come Marching In’ and ‘Didn’t He Ramble’. Jazz Not Jazz are able to offer any length of performance required and can offer as many musicians as requested. Their services as well as being deployed to help make funerals more celebratory have even been used by the likes of British Rail to play at 9 different stations to celebrate a new route servicing the South West.

Grand Rapids, MI, May 21, 2009 — Each year the Batten Disease Support and Research Association does its part to help bring recognition to a rare but devastating disease. Batten Disease is a genetic neurological disease that brings an early death to each child it affects. The disease may not be well known, but its effects on a family can be seen in numerous cities and towns around the country. This is why the Batten Disease Support and Research Association is holding its annual Batten Disease Awareness Days on June 6 & 7, 2009.

Approximately one child is diagnosed with Batten Disease each week. While there is hope in research for a treatment or cure, the funds are hard to come by. Families around the world will be doing their part to raise both awareness and funds in the form of fundraisers. There are over twenty families throughout Michigan that have been touched by Batten Disease, at least five in the Grand Rapids area.

Jacob Geer of Grand Rapids has been diagnosed with Batten Disease. His family is currently testing to see which form of this disease Jacob has. It is believed he has the late infantile form. No matter what form he has, the outcome of this disease is always fatal. “For now, Jacob is our same little boy. We are spending what time we can with him and trying to build on the memories. He can still see (he will become blind), walk and talk. For how long, we do not know. His life is so precious and we are truly thankful for each day God blesses us with him. We appreciate your thoughts, prayers and contributions to the BDSRA to help find a cure for this devastating disease” say his parents Chris and Rob Geer.

You can help spread awareness about the cruelty of this disease. On June 6 & 7, please take a moment to tell someone about Batten Disease and how it can steal a precious child’s hopes and dreams. You can also donate to the Batten Disease Support and Research Association by visiting our website at www.bdsra.org or through Jacob Geer’s website at www.jacobsprayer.org. Every story and every cent make a difference.

GolfCharity.net becomes first free nationwide database of golf charity events.
Fort Myers, Florida – May 20, 2008 – In this tough economy, charity tournament organizers across the country have been struggling to find players and sponsors for their events. Increasingly, they have been turning to the web, and more specifically, to GolfCharity.net, for help, both in helping promote and coodinate these charity events. Founder Andrew Brinkworth states, “I was shocked to find out that even Alice Cooper’s charity for troubled teens had been canceled due to the economy. If a big name like Alice was canceling, how many other organizers were going to have to cancel as well depriving their charities of much needed funds? Without the income from annual fundraising events like these, many charities could soon need to close their doors permanently. I just wanted to do something to help make a difference, to make sure these traditions and institutions continue.”

GolfCharity.net is totally free for anyone, whether you are a player or an organizer posting an event. “We understood very early on that in order for us to succeed, we really needed the site to be sponsor-supported. Charities are already spending far too much of their budget on advertising and promotion, so GolfCharity.com doesn’t charge charities or organizers anything to post their event.”

GolfCharity.net provides marketing and promotional services for charity events. While the value of these types of services has traditionally been difficult to know, online marketing services are very precisely tracked. Furthermore, there has been a distinct increase in online traffic for charity golf events, as more and more people are getting connected to the internet at home, the office and their cell phones. “We’ve seen an increase in requests for keywords related to Charity Golf Events each month as we head into summer. We also have an aggressive marketing strategy that I think will help us promote both the site and the events as well. We’ll be using Twitter and other social networks, including some of those that are dedicated to golf. We really want to be in a position to help as many organizers as we can get the players they need for a successful event.”

GolfCharity.net is totally free for all users of the site whether you are a player or an organizer posting an event. “We understood very early on that in order for us to succeed, we really needed the site to be sponsor supported. Charity golf tournaments aren’t in any position to pay for advertising and I am of the thinking that they shouldn’t have to. But that said, we needed to be sure that the advertising wasn’t going to get out of hand which is why we re only accepting six sponsors in total for the site. We really want this to be about the great work that the organizers are doing and we’d like our sponsors to be in a position to help them achieve their goals.”
With any website, the only question that really matters really is traffic.
“It can be easily understood if play is down what with the economy performing the way it is, but I think that what many players don’t understand is that they do receive a larger benefit for playing in some Charity Tournaments than just a round of golf and a lunch. In many cases, the entire day is tax deductible! This may seem to be a selfish reason to play in a tournament but I’m of the mind that if more players participate because of this then everyone wins. “

“We’ve also made a very important decision that I think will really separate us from the rest of the pack.” Andrew went on to say, “beginning June 1st we will be donating 10% of all of our advertising revenue to a charity event that is listed on our site. I don’t know how much that will be yet, that’s for our advertisers to decide, but I hope that in the future we can really become a force for these charities.”
