London, UK, October 09, 2009 — The Butterfly Effect is the new album by violinist Diana Yukawa, one of the world’s most exciting and talented musicians. Together with renowned Producer Andy Wright, Diana has created a groundbreaking sound for the violin.

Through the years since being discovered by BMG at age 13, Diana has discovered a passion and a natural talent for creating her own music. Although respectful of her classical roots, Diana wanted to demonstrate that the violin isn’t purely a classical instrument. Having invested a lot of time in developing her new sound, Diana has poured her heart and soul into the creation of each piece whilst running against the grain of people’s expectation.

Creating music comes very naturally to Diana but the journey to this point has been a very steep climb. Creating new music that doesn’t fall into a specific genre coupled with the preconception that Diana’s instrument is only for classical music, created many hurdles. But for Diana, these hurdles just had to be jumped.

8 years have passed since the release of Diana last album, during which time she has created a modern sound for the violin. Having started collaborating with Producer, Andy Wright in 2008, Sphere Studios in London was their home as they pushed the boundaries for the violin and the music took shape.

Once all the tracks had been written and perfected, the notorious Studio One at Abbey Road provided the perfect location to house the final recording. Its technical aptitude and magical acoustics united with the knowledge of its previous groundbreaking occupants, added yet another layer to the final sound of The Butterfly Effect.

Listeners of The Butterfly Effect are taken on a wonderful journey through the wonderful collection of tracks, held together with a certain magical ambience, uniting them all perfectly. The wonderfully varied pace from one track to the next keeps the listener engaged, activating a vast array of emotion with every note.

Diana Yukawa’s producer, Andy Wright is a notorious and very talented gentleman who has worked with the likes of Simply Red, Jeff Beck, the late Luciano Pavaroti and Massive Attack so she was in the best hands.

Andy and Diana’s ideas blended together like a dream, testament to the great working relationship they have but furthermore verifying to Diana, that Andy was the perfect Producer choice to accompany her on the very special journey.

The Butterfly Effect is to be released through Sony Music starting in Japan on 21st October 2009. For more information, please visit www.dianayukawa.co.uk

Eugene, OR, October 08, 2009 — Halie Loren has made her mark in Indie music over the years with several highly acclaimed releases. Most recently the jazz singer and songwriter was awarded for her excellence in both vocals and recording at the Just Plain Folks Music Awards 2009.

Halie walked away with the coveted Best Vocal Jazz Album for the superb 2008 release, They Oughta Write a Song. A collection of standards, jazzified classics, and three of her own original co-writes, the album has garnered excellent critical reviews and continues to be played on stations around the globe.

Loren said, “I give much credit for the album’s cohesive and solid sound to the amazing talents of the musicians who played on this album: Matt Treder (Piano), who was my co-producer and also arranged much of the music, Mark Schneider (Bass), Brian West (Drums), and Tim McLaughlin (Trumpet).”

Just Plain Folks organization’s 50,000 membership is made up of an array of independent artists at every level of recognition, including Grammy, European Music and Academy Award winners. After receiving a record setting 42,000 albums and over a half million songs from 163 countries around the world, the organization’s staff and a team of judges from the industry filtered the music down to song and album nominees in 95 genres of music.

The largest independent music awards event on the planet, the ceremonies were held August 29 in Nashville, Tennessee. This year’s nominees came from over 80 countries, giving the organization an amazing cross section of diversity and culture. Halie made it in the top 10 Vocal Jazz Album nominees and in the top song nominees in both the New Folk Song and Contemporary Song categories, where her songs competed with those by the likes of Janis Ian and Gretchen Peters, both multi-award-winning singer/songwriters.

Loren began singing professionally at 15 and is earning a reputation as one of today’s top singers and songwriters in a variety of genres, all with a pop/jazz-leaning focus. Having already released three albums, she continues gathering awards and recognition, and finding herself among some very select company in the music industry. At present she is planning a recording project that will fuse her unique songwriting with her deep roots in jazz, and which Loren says will be something altogether different from any of her previous albums as she continues to explore new avenues of creativity.

Rotorua Deepawali Festival
Press Release

Kia Ora, Namaste and Greetings.

Rotorua Deepawali Festival 2009 will be held at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre on Saturday, 7th November 2009. Like last year, we invite the Rotorua public (and out of town visitors) to come in big numbers to participate, celebrate, enjoy and bless this cultural tradition.

“This festival is unique in a sense as it is Smoke-free, Alcohol-free and Meat-free festival” said Dr Guna Magesan, Festival coordinator. Entry to the festival is also FREE.

This festival is truly becoming Rotorua Festival as majority of available tickets have been reserved by Rotorua public (non-Indian community), even before the media release. Only 67 tickets are left.

Deepawali (Festival of Lights) is a well known Hindu festival celebrated by Indian community all over the world. New Zealand Parliament also celebrates this festival annually.

In 2008, for the first time in its history, the Hindu community took an initiative to organise a Rotorua-wide community-focused Deepawali Festival at the Rotorua Convention Centre. This gave Rotorua public an opportunity to participate and celebrate this cultural tradition. Although it was the first year and that too an Election Day, more than 300 people were on waiting list. We thank media who played a key role in promoting this festival, charitable funding agencies for sponsoring the event and community organisations & businesses for supporting the festival.

Rotorua Deepawali Festival 2009 is proudly sponsored by Rotorua Trust, First Sovereign, The Lion Foundation, Asia NZ Foundation, Creative Communities NZ Rotorua Scheme, The Southern Trust, and COGS; and supported by Hindu Council of New Zealand, Rotorua District Council, Settlement Support NZ, Rotorua Ethnic Council, Rotorua Indian community, Rotorua Fiji Indian Association Inc. and other community organisations; Waiariki Institute of Technology, Rotorua Public Library, RAVE and many businesses.

“It is good to see so many community organizations, charitable funding agencies and businesses are behind this festival” said Dr Meeta Patel, secretary of the festival organising committee.

As part of our regular learning and understanding of Maori culture, there will be a special powhiri at Apumoana Marae for out of town visitors on the same day.

We look forward to seeing your family and friends at the Rotorua Deepawali Festival 2009 on Saturday, 7 November 2009 at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre.

“For years, I would rummage through the used CD and vinyl bins in the stores on St. Marks Place in New York. My favorites were the 88 cents bins at Sounds. The goal was always the same, to find something interesting and different. At 88 cents, it was worth taking a risk on a completely unknown artist,” explains Rawls. “Whenever I found something that got me excited, I would email the group, telling them about the artist, attaching some of the music and recommending they pick up a copy. It became a regular thing.”

The emails took a back seat after Rawls left New York City but the group, now hooked, continued to hunger for more music. “When I moved to Montreal, I no longer had access to St. Marks Place but the desire to hear and share new music remained. So I went on the internet to find sites that recommended music from lesser-known artists. I found several but most of them were single-genre sites. For someone who enjoys a variety of music, that can be unsatisfying. So I decided to create the site I wanted; a site where one day you’d get an R&B or jazz recommendation, then next time maybe a heavy metal, electronica or country recommendation or even an artist singing in German, Spanish, French or some other language. Being open-minded to different things is part of the joy of discovering new music.”

Since its debut, Me Like Good Music has steadily developed a following of music lovers looking for something different from today’s cookie-cutter offerings. “I’m extremely happy with the way the site has grown. I especially love how it’s become more interactive. In the beginning, I was doing all the recommending and getting a little feedback here and there. Now, I get daily recommendations through the site and social media. Things like ‘Check out this great underrated artist.’ or ‘Check me out. My music is the coolest.’ The internet is packed with artists trying to find an audience for their music. I’m glad Me Like Good Music has become another option to help them get some attention. For me, underrated music is like indie film, it’s the sleepers that hit you in a memorable way. So that’s my purpose: to awaken you to the sleepers.”

As for the future of Me Like Good Music, Rawls said “I live in Atlanta now and I’m discovering the diversity of Atlanta’s music scene. It’s a whole new candy store full of new flavors to sample. For now, I’m still a very small fish in a huge media pond, but that’s okay. I’m here to share the music I like with people interested in different types of music, especially music from underrated artists. So, as long as those people are around, we’ll be that school of fish…that tiny school jamming in the coolest part of the pond.”

Visit http://www.melikegoodmusic.com/press.php to hear a few of MeLikeGoodMusic’s favorite underrated artists.

# # #

Me Like Good Music is an Atlanta-based website dedicated to recommending the best in new and old underrated music of multiple genres. It particularly focuses on individual artists and bands flying under the radar of popular music.

New York, NY June 17, 2009 — You’ve Got A Friend is Kevin Hays’ first release for 2009. The album was released on the Jazz Eyes label May 1st. An all instrumental foray into the realm of cover tunes, the CD features pop and jazz classics interpreted by the trio in their own special way.

The title track, a Carole King penned composition made famous by James Taylor, appropriately kicks off the album. From that point forward a who’s who of music makes an appearance on the CD. Paul McCartney (“Fool on the Hill”), Thelonious Monk (“Think of One”), and an unforgettable pop classic from Paul Simon (“Bridge Over Troubled Water”) populate the recording amongst others.

The final outcome is a record suitable for anyone’s musical palette, whether it is jazz or pop, or the appreciation for good musicianship in the form of instrumentals, You’ve Got A Friend has something for everyone to enjoy.

The New York Times acclaimed Hays as the best of 2006 and there is a good chance with his recent work that statement will be repeated by the well known newspaper and many others once word gets out about You’ve Got A Friend.

Few have Hays’s melodic charms and sense of style.’ (The New Yorker Magazine ‘Best of 2006’)
With nearly a dozen CDs to his credit, Kevin Hays is positioned stalwartly in the jazz community with listeners and industry people alike.

The popular Jazz Pianist and composer Kevin Hays has performed extensively with his Trio which includes bassist Doug Weiss and drummer Bill Stewart. He also records and tours frequently with his group Sangha Quartet, which features tenor saxophonist Seamus Blake. More information regarding You’ve Got A Friend is available on the Kevin Hays website.

While Reggie is accustomed to success this is his first solo outing, and with that comes a certain amount anticipation of how it will be received. The personal nature of the tracks on Bring Back The Love will pull listeners in quickly and they will find how easy it is to become immersed in the words and music. The bar is set very high and the expectations are nonetheless as would be expected by such a respected veteran of the music industry as Reggie Calloway.

He is also the writer and producer of the # 1 songs “Casanova” and the Grammy-winning “Love Overboard.” While his past includes those impressive credits, the timeless party songs such as the #1 hit, “Operator” and party anthems like “Freak-A-Zoid”,“No Parking on the Dance Floor” and “I Wanna Be Rich” on the Solar Label are also part of the Calloway resume.

Bring Back The Love is set to stake its claim to many more timeless classic hits. This time it will not be for parties, these are love songs that you will hear playing on easy listening, contemporary and adult contemporary stations that reach out to the crossover audience and indeed will find places prominently situated in the Top Ten of R & B and Pop’s traditional and internet radio stations. The tracks have such universal appeal you may find them creeping into smooth jazz listings as well. This is a testament to the staying power of Calloway penned compositions.

Calloway’s experience as a producer and vocalist goes a long way to making Bring Back the Love the consistently solid success that it is and will be for some time to come.

Hershey, PA, May 27, 2009 — The April Skies are set to release their self-titled full length CD building on their distinct sound molded in 2003 with the release of the impressive Breathe EP.

The April Skies set out to complete their own agenda years ago and never has it been more evident and appropriate with this release. Employing the band’s name for the recording is significant and an emotional musical statement from them, letting their fans knows that they are The April Skies and are here to stay. With their very own brand of indie rock homegrown in the heart of Pennsylvania with hard work and years of sacrifice, they have endeared themselves to legions of fans up and down the east coast and that fan base is rapidly spreading across the U.S.

The twangy guitars, knockout rhythm section and radio ready tracks are plentiful on the self titled release. How can you miss with tracks like “Punch Drunk Messiah”, “A Room With A View” and “Why Weren’t You Like This Years Ago?” The April Skies are the definition of lunch pail rock, working class heroes churning out accessible indie rock that connects with the listener on every track.

With plenty of success behind them it would be too easy to sit back on their laurels and enjoy it all, instead The April Skies prefer to put their collective heads down and get right back to work. In between efforts to support this new release they are already hard at work on their next CD. There is no doubt that The April Skies will bring in more listeners while continuing to please their existing fan base.

Visit The April Skies official website for more information and purchase options from their catalog or visit iTunes, Rhapsody or any digital distribution outlet to feed your digital music player.
