The latest addition to the Copernicus UK team is Geoff Watson who will be based in the North East and oversee client projects within the region.
Geoff is a ‘hands on’ professional with over thirty years experience in large blue chip and SME companies, such as J. Sainsbury Plc, Thorn Emi Plc, Tiny Computers Ltd, Caudwell Communications Ltd and RBS Plc, working at senior operational and board level, lately developing business strategies with SME owners to improve their profitability.
He will work with management to evaluate current business operational status, create strategies and structures to improve performance and stay with the team to see it through.
Geoff is very experienced in managing under performing companies into stability. Working with the banks and company owners to manage / restructure debt, improve income, minimize costs and mentoring management.
In typical Copernicus fashion he is a plain speaking, practiced communicator with testimonials to prove competency, commitment, results and his passion to win.

Case Study 1:
£5m General Stores business, franchised company, with Owner MD and FD, six shops, extended over draft and breaching covenants with the bank. Their profits had fallen and sales where dwindling.
Business strategies were constructed and executed, give increased sales and profitability, costs were lowered and the P&L increased at EBITDA level by 15% over a nine month period. The bank loans where restructured and debt lowered giving a stronger balance sheet.

Case Study 2:
£15m Technology driven company, Owner MD with a strong online presence, having difficulty in managing the day to day operations in a factory environment which was not profitable.
A study of the factory operations was undertaken to ascertain the facts. A strategic plan was developed. After costs and ROI analysis the factory was closed and manufacturing of the same product began overseas enabling the company to make an extra £250k per annum in profit.

Geoff can be contacted directly at gw@copernicus-consulting.com

PhD chemist Markus Eckert joined the Bayer Group in 1999 as
a laboratory manager and project manager in the Research & Development section of the Fine Chemicals Business Unit. He was transferred to Shanghai, where he headed Regional Strategic Planning
In 1983 Wehling moved to the Marketing Department of the former Bayer Dyestuffs Business Group, latterly holding the post of head of wet operations.

In 1992 Wehling was appointed head of the Dyestuffs and Fibers Division of Bayer South Africa in Johannesburg. In 1995 he moved to Italy to take over as Managing Director of DyStar Italia Srl in Milan.
LANXESS is one of the leading suppliers of systems solutions for the leather industry, from chemicals for all stages of the manufacturing process to intensive technical support.
