SALT LAKE CITY, US – November 17, 2009 — RemedyMD , the leading provider of disease registry software, today announced the first nationwide clinical registry for remote monitoring technologies. The new registry was developed to help clinicians and researchers identify which remote patient monitoring and management technologies are most appropriate for specific patient populations.

Details about the registry: http://www.remedymd.com/cer100/remote_tech.html

Aligned with the Institute of Medicine’s Top 100 Priorities for Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER), RemedyMD’s remote monitoring technologies registry compares the effectiveness of new remote patient monitoring and management methodologies including: telemedicine, internet, and remote sensing technologies on:

* Resource utilization
* Workforce needs
* Net health care expenditures
* Requirements for large-scale deployment

and traditional “in-person” care in managing chronic disease, especially in rural settings. The registry includes all of the applications, data infrastructure, and tools that clinicians and researchers need to gather, synthesize and analyze both phenotypic and genotypic data simultaneously.

“Our experience has shown when you view and report across all data types at the same time, you discover patterns and associations that are indistinguishable using traditional methodologies” said Gary D. Kennedy, Founder and CEO of RemedyMD.

RemedyMD’s new remote monitoring technologies registry includes a comprehensive set of electronic data collection (EDC) forms that are specific to medical device research, ad hoc reporting capability, and pattern recognition tools that assist users in identifying the most effective remote monitoring options.

In support of this initiative RemedyMD is seeking additional partners who have existing data that addresses the specific needs of medical device researchers. All institutions involved in comparative effectiveness research that are planning on submitting grant proposals for AHRQ funding are invited to visit: http://www.remedymd.com/cer100/remote_tech.html

November 18, 2009 – Manila, Philippines – AsianMedicalTourism.com – an experienced guide in medical tourism, understands your need in finding medical services that are affordable and excellent. For patients who suspect that they have a brain tumor and want it to be treated, Wellness and Health Services Asia Inc. (WAHSA) can help you search medical facilities that have gamma knife surgery.

The gamma knife, known to be used in treating The brain tumors, has been proven to be safe because of the very small risk involved in gamma knife radio surgery treatment. The device uses a high dose of radiation therapy to treat the brain tumor. The gamma knife device contains a 201 cobalt-60 source that is placed in a circular array in a heavily shielded assembly. Each 201 cobalt-60 source contains approximately 30 curies. The device focuses the gamma radiation at a target point in the patient’s brain.

The patient wears a specialized helmet that is fixed to the patient’s skull through surgery. After the patient wears the helmet, multiple beams of gamma radiation is sent to the brain tumor in one treatment session. The gamma knife center uses computerized data from imaging tests like CT scans, MRI’s or arteriogram to pick the targeted area within the brain.

The gamma knife radio surgery treatment uses high doses of gamma radiation to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors. It is able to precisely focus multiple beams of high-intensity gamma radiation to the targeted area in order to avoid damaging healthy brain tissue. Each individual beam of gamma radiation has relatively low energy so it has no significant effect on intervening brain tissue. Only the targeted area is affected by the gamma radiation.

The procedure has been proven to be effective since more than 200,000 patients have already undergone the procedure worldwide. The procedure is non-invasive and it has negligible risk of infection or hemorrhage. Aside from treating brain tumors, the procedure has also been proven to be effective for treating vascular malfunctions such as arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and other functional problems.

This BPH essential treatment tackles the cause of this stressful disease and is available on Fine Treatment website.

London, UK, November 23, 2009 — Many men only have mild symptoms of BPH and someone may suggest that no treatment for them is required. However an enlarged prostate – BPH influences everyday man’s life by decreasing his sexual activity. New Thermobalancing treatment is directed to ease symptoms of BPH and shrink the prostate naturally.

Fine Treatment offers unique Device for Prostate Care which reduces symptoms of BPH – Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy, independently of the prostate enragement stage. The natural Thermobalancing treatment for BPH tackles the cause of Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy, restores potency and increases libido. This natural treatment for BPH has no side effects.

Dr Allen’s Device for BPH Treatment

* Relieves problems with urination without resorting to medication;
* Provide essential long-term treatment for the cause of BPH, independently of the prostate enlargement stage;
* Promote healthy functioning of a prostate restoring potency and increasing libido.

Especially designed, Dr Allen’s Device for Prostate Care comfortable to wear and it will not affect your day-to-day activities, offering a range of unique benefits.

More information about the device can be found on the Fine Treatment website:

http://www.finetreatment.co.uk/natural-alternative/prostate-treatment.html

The cause of a prostate enlargement was unknown until Dr Allen created the Theory of the Origin of Health Disorders, which explains, that the cause of BPH is an increased pressure inside the prostate. This pressure pushes surrounding tissue to expand. The only way to abort the process of enlargement of the prostate is to stop this pressure, read more on Fine Treatment website.

Compare with existing conventional treatment
1.Most cases of BPH are trying to treat with different medications (not successful). Different medications in many cases are depressing metabolic processes which are essential for normal functioning of the body. As a result of it man can feel weakness and fatigue and also there is an increased risk of gastrointestinal complications ranging from stomach pain to severe constipation.

2.Surgical intervention is dangerous because of possible infection. In addition, urinary incontinence is a devastating complication that can occur. Another possible complication is that the nerves that control the penis can become damaged. If it happens, impotence can develop

Absolutely new BPH treatment offered by Fine Treatment cannot be compared with existing methods of mainstream medicine, because it does not have side effects and completely harmless.

How does Dr Allen’s Device for Prostate Care work?
The natural thermo-elements are a major component of the Dr Allen’s therapeutic device. By making the prostate temperature constant, Dr Allen’s Device for Prostate Care creates an ideal environment for the capillaries to stabilise the body temperature in prostate tissue and supply it with all necessary nutrients, thereby helping the organ to recover from Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy, BPH. This unique BPH treatment restores potency and increases libido. The sooner you start to use this advanced natural Thermobalancing treatment, the better your chance for the full recovery from BPH.

“The Thermobalancing BPH treatment is highly effective because it tackles the cause of a prostate enlargement”, highlights Dr Simon Allen.

The drug is under the same federal category as cocaine, opium and morphine, since it is such an addictive and dangerous drug.

San Francisco, CA, October 12, 2009 — Einstein, Newton, Edison, Beethoven, Caruso, and Churchill were all ADHD candidates. What would the world be like without them? Albert Einstein did not speak until he was four years old and he didn’t read until he was seven. The instructors described him as mentally slow, unsociable and a dreamer. He was later expelled from school.

Thomas Edison’s teachers said he was too stupid to learn anything. Isaac Newton did very poorly in grade school while singer Enrico Caruso’s was informed he had no voice and couldn’t sing. Winston Churchill failed sixth grade, and Beethoven was awkward with the violin and preferred to compose instead of play. His instructor called him hopeless as a composer. If these world changing men were boys today they would be evaluated as ADHD candidates and subscribed Ritalin a schedule 2 drug similar to cocaine. Our pharmaceutically drug induced children have no chance to become the likes of these great men.

There is no single test for ADHD. In fact there is no scientific test at all for ADHD. It is entirely made up, by taking the most annoying habits of children and calling it a disease. It creates a market for pharmaceutical companies, and invoices for psychiatry. Please see adhdfraud.org and the book ADHD Fraud by Fred A. Baughman Jr., MD. Here are the symptoms of ADHD according to the drug pushers. ADHD is diagnosed after a child has shown six or more specific symptoms of inactivity and or hyperactivity on a regular basis for more than six months in more than two settings. The symptoms that can get your child diagnosed as ADHD are constant motion, fidgeting, not listening, difficulty paying attention, excessive talking, easily distracted, and not completing tasks. Virtually all children demonstrate behavior like while growing up. Most Ritalin and ADHD diagnosis is prescribed to children 6 to 12 years.

The side effects of Ritalin according to the DSM Diagnostic and Statistical Manual Of Mental Disorders,(Psychiatry’s owners manual) include stunting of growth, depression, insomnia, nervousness, skin rash, anorexia, nausea, dizziness, headaches, abdominal pain, blood pressure and pulse changes, and Tourette’s Syndrome which is a permanent and irreversible condition characterized by body tics, spasms, screaming obscenities, and barking sounds. The drug is under the same federal category as cocaine, opium and morphine, since it is such an addictive and dangerous drug. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe and include depression, fatigue, paranoia, increased dreaming, irritability, bedwetting and suicide. How could a mother provide a drug with these side effects to their child? How can the FDA approve of such a drug for children for a disease that is completely made up?

Where would we be without the Einstein’s, Newton’s, and Beethoven’s of the world and where is the world going today by subscribing so many on ADHD? It is estimated that 90 percent of children diagnosed with ADHD will be prescribed Ritalin as part of their treatment. Prescriptions increased 450 percent from 1991 to 1995, climbing from a nationwide consumption of 4,000 pounds to 18,000 pounds annually, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). This is a DEA statistic not an FDA statistic. That should tell you something alone. Why because it is a schedule 2 drug like cocaine and opium. Ritalin is made by the pharmaceutical company Novartis and it is the brand name for the drug methylphenidate. It’s taken as tablets and takes effect after about four hours and a second dose and third dose maybe necessary every four hours throughout the day. As we have noted it is an addictive drug. Other similarly prescribed ADHD drugs are Dexedrine (dextro-amphetamine), Adderall (mixed dextro- and levo-amphetamine) and, Gradumet, and Desoxyn (which are methamphetamine which is basically speed or commonly called ‘ice”’).

Since ADHD is simply fraud and the drug given to your child is simply “speed or ice” then the alternative is easy, don’t agree to the diagnosis. You’re the parent your in charge of your child’s health and welfare. The home remedy alternative is to reduce the sugar intake for your children and put them on a better protein and vegetable diet. You can assist them by getting them a tutor for school when they are having difficulty, or adding extra school time so they get the subject matter better. Children also need to be more active in sports or athletics which teaches concentration and team work. It also burns calories, and they can win at games which improves their well being. These simple steps alone can correct your child’s behavior. Drugs are not the answer and they will never be the answer.

As one week is left in registration deadline for ICT for Health’s third biannual PACS Admin Seminar, ICT for Health announces 15-20% discount on the remaining seats in the seminar.

An Alimoh Group Company, ICT for Health is a pioneer Health Imaging, Teleradiology and PACS Training Organization in the Middle East, first to introduce Health Imaging courses, seminars and education products across the Middle East.

ICT for Health had two very successful PACS Seminars in Dubai and Egypt and has announced its third PACS seminar in Bahrain in coming November. ICT for Health brings top notch, senior trainers from across the globe to deliver highly sophisticated and technical contents on health imaging management. The seminars are very interactive and that is why seats are limited in regards to attendance. ICT for Health announced closing of registration for the seminar on 15th of October, 2009.

Detailed curriculum, pricing and registration information can be found at seminar official page http://www.ictforhealth.com/bahrain-seminar.html
About the Workshop: The workshop is a typical example of blended learning because it uses books, self-paced CD’s as well as face-to-face training. You will get a thorough understanding of all the aspects of a typical PACS System Administrator’s job.

There has been a spate of sites recently offering herbal viagra. It is buyers beware with these prducts as one leading health authority has pointed out. These unlicensed products may contain a poison. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is warning people of the dangers of taking unlicensed herbal medicines containing aconite.

Aconite has recently been portrayed in the media as ‘herbal valium’, however, it is actually an extremely poisonous plant that is toxic to the heart.

It is also known as monkshood and herbal products containing this ingredient could be fatal or cause serious illness if consumed.

The MHRA has received two reports of suspected adverse reactions to aconite, one where a patient suffered kidney problems and another where the person was hospitalised after suffering dizziness and paresthesia.

MHRA Head of Herbal Policy, Richard Woodfield, said it was vital people did not confuse herbal medicines and homeopathic ones.

“Registered homeopathic products that contain aconite are considered acceptably safe as the active ingredient, aconite, is sufficiently diluted,” he said.

“Herbal medicines are made from plants and so can have a very significant effect on the body. In certain cases, such as with aconite, the medicine can be extremely potent.

“This is a classic case where ‘natural’ does not mean ‘safe’.”

Mr Woodfield said recent media attention focused on a celebrity who allegedly took a product containing aconite to calm wedding day nerves.

“With unlicensed herbal medicines, people need to be aware that the standards vary widely and can be poor.

“However, an increasing range of herbal medicines made to assured standards are available on the UK market.”

Registered and licensed herbal medicines can be identified by the traditional herbal registration (THR) or the product licence (PL) number on the label.

Registered homeopathic products can also be identified by checking the label which should say ‘Homeopathic medicinal product without approved therapeutic indications’, as well as a homeopathic registration number prefixed with the letters HR.

Any side effects to herbal and homeopathic products can be reported to the MHRA via the Yellow Card Scheme http://yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/.

The MHRA is the government agency responsible for ensuring that medicines and medical devices work, and are acceptably safe. No product is risk free. Underpinning all our work lie robust and fact-based judgments to ensure that the benefits to patients and the public justify the risks. We keep watch over medicines and devices, and take any necessary action to protect the public promptly if there is a problem. We encourage everyone – the public and healthcare professionals as well as the industry – to tell us about any problems with a medicine or medical device, so that we can investigate and take any necessary action. www.mhra.gov.uk

2. The MHRA recently issued a warning relating to herbal medicines containing aconite on our website.

3. Information on herbal medicines can be found on our website.

4. Further information on homeopathic medicines can be found on our website.

5. Paresthesia refers to tingling and numbness of the skin.

6. Standards of safety and manufacture vary widely in the unlicensed herbal sector and the MHRA has issued a number of warnings about unlicensed herbal medicines and traditional Chinese medicines. Under the UK traditional herbal registration scheme, introduced in 2005, manufactured over the counter traditional herbal medicines are required to meet standards of safety, quality and patient information. Further information is available on MHRA website.

WILMINGTON, Del.– The global dental equipment and consumables market is estimated to be $26 billion by 2014, growing at a CAGR of 6.8%. The market is expected to grow because of the tremendous demand for dental biomaterial and dental implants. It is expected that the market for dental implants and dental biomaterials will grow at an overall CAGR of 12.2% and 10.5% respectively from 2009 – 2014. The main driving element for global dental equipment market is the advancement in technologies that are available to dentists’ for treating their patients.

Dentists are now directly targeting their patients, which has helped in improving customer awareness about dental products and the latest available technologies. Changing consumer needs and a shift towards cosmetic dentistry will drive the market for hi-end dental solutions. Stiff competition exists among the industry participants due to product differentiation, technology and pricing. This is more evident among dental companies resulting in companies adopting strategies like technology integration, product improvement and re-branding.

This analyst briefing focuses on the dental devices and consumables market over the period 2009-2014.The agenda for the briefing includes discussion on key high growth market, marking the growth trend in the implants and transition of technology in dental radiology. This does not stop here – a briefing will be conducted on the competitive scenario and geographic opportunities for the similar topic.

The briefing on the Global Dental devices and equipment Market (2009-2014) will benefit the Dental devices manufacturers, dental service providers, dental associations, dental clinics, technology providers and laboratories.

“We can expect to see significant dip in the dental equipment consumption due to the economic slowdown which has also restricted the access to funds due to breakdown of capital markets. The impact has been more on the procedures that lack medical coverage and where the patient has to make out of pocket investments.” notes MarketsandMarkets. “A wide range of implantable, aesthetic orthodontics for surgical procedures, digitized dental imaging equipment is presumed to sustain owing to the largest value of demand based on increasing dental procedures and widespread use in treatment of sleep apnea and edentulous teeth even during this phase.”

Washington, DC – The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) congratulates its partner, the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) for its recent findings that may bring the scientific community a bit closer to an HIV vaccine. The results allow scientists to understand the dynamics of naturally occurring protective mechanisms that some people have against HIV.

Throughout the course of the study entitled, “Protocol G: A Cross Sectional Study to Screen For and Generate Broadly Neutralizing Monoclonal Antibodies from HIV Infected Individuals,” scientists discovered that some people who are exposed to HIV have created antibodies that effectively block or neutralize the virus. These promising findings point to important clues that will inform on-going work to design a vaccine against HIV.

USAID and IAVI have been in a cooperative agreement since 2006 to accelerate the discovery of an AIDS vaccine. With the support of USAID, IAVI was able to test over 1,800 HIV positive individuals in several developing countries leading to the discovery of these highly effective antibodies that create immunity against many strains of HIV.

The findings, which were published in the journal Science, provide critical information that is sure to shape vaccine research in the future.

USAID’s Office of HIV/AIDS commends IAVI on its diligent and insightful success and is proud to have supported them in this exciting work.

“We are delighted with IAVI’s promising and novel achievements; if there is one thing USAID understands, it’s the importance of setting long range goals,” said David Stanton, division chief in USAID’s Office of HIV/AIDS. “Translating these findings into an actual vaccine will surely take time and much more work, but IAVI’s Protocol G provides important insight into what a vaccine might look like so it can effectively instruct the immune system to produce these powerful antibodies.”
About USAID’s Response to HIV/AIDS

Since the inception of its HIV/AIDS program in 1986, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has been on the forefront of the global AIDS crisis, investing more than $7 billion to fight the pandemic. Today, with more than 33 million people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, USAID is a key partner in the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, the largest and most diverse HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment initiative in the world.
About USAID’s Support of IAVI

Since 2001, USAID has funded the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI), a nonprofit organization that acts as a virtual pharmaceutical company to accelerate the development and clinical testing of HIV vaccine candidates. This support is an important part of U.S. Government (USG) efforts to address the pandemic from every conceivable direction. IAVI facilitates collaboration among universities, governments, and private-sector groups to ensure that the appropriate resources are available for each phase of product development.

Great River, NY, August 18, 2009 — Drugs used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, specifically TNF blockers including Remicade, Enbrel, Cimzia, and Humira, increase the risk of certain cancers and infections. Patients should be aware of the increased risk of lymphoma and fungal infections, especially in young children.

The Federal Drug Administration recently completed an analysis of TNF blockers which prompted a mandatory warning to be included on each of the drugs. A study conducted by the Mayo Clinic found that risks for certain cancers increased three-fold and that infection risk increased two-fold for patients taking Humira or Remicade. In addition cancer development overall was found to be higher for patients undergoing TNF blocker treatment as compared with those who were not treated with the drugs.

TNF blockers are used to reduce inflammation in patients who suffer from autoimmune disorders, specifically rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn’s disease. While some physicians believe that the benefit provided by TNF blockers to these patients outweighs the risk involved, they also stress that each patient should be aware that the risk exists and should take extra precautions such as maintaining vaccinations and undergoing appropriate cancer screenings. Families of arthritis patients should help watch for infection symptoms and should seek treatment immediately should symptoms present themselves. In some cases, fatalities have been reported just three weeks after symptoms were first observed.

In areas where fungal infections are common, such as states along the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, arthritis patients taking the drugs should exercise extra caution. Some fungal infections cause symptoms similar to the flu. People with normal immune systems often do not exhibit symptoms; however, patients taking TNF blockers have suppressed immune systems and can succumb to the infection quickly, sometimes with fatal results. Each patient should be informed of the risks and symptoms of these infections so that treatment can begin immediately should such an infection surface.

Children as young as two years old may receive prescriptions for TNF blockers to treat certain conditions. Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis may be treated with Enbrel or Humira, and young patients with Crohn’s disease may be prescribed Remicade treatments to manage their condition. As these patients grow older, they should keep a watchful eye open for signs of infectious disease and should be aware of the increased risk of lymphoma and other cancers.

Patients who have suffered serious side effects from the use of TNF blockers as well as families who have lost loved ones to conditions caused or exacerbated by the drugs may wish to seek legal advice as to whether they have a legal claim. A qualified attorney can help evaluate each situation and provide advice on how to proceed.
